Position Summary

The Clinician provides direct individual, group, educational, and case management services to residents with substance use and/or mental health disorders. Responsibilities include conducting screenings, assessments, and treatment planning using ASAM criteria. The Clinician facilitates a structured therapeutic milieu and supports participant engagement in daily recovery activities using an integrated treatment approach.

Pay Rate: $52,000-$57,000 annually, depending on education level

Open Shift: Monday through Friday 9am-5pm (40hrs)

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct screenings, intakes, assessments, and treatment planning using ASAM criteria.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to support clients’ recovery goals.
  • Facilitate daily therapeutic programming and community meetings within the residential setting.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and funding requirements.
  • Coordinate care with community providers, families, and support systems to ensure integrated services.
  • Respond appropriately to client crises and participate in critical incident review processes.
  • Support and maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented residential environment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
  • Assist residents in developing aftercare, relapse prevention, and discharge planning goals.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, training, and adhere to all licensing, agency, and confidentiality standards.

About the GRIT Program

The GRIT program at MHA provides residential rehabilitation for individuals with substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Residents participate in individualized counseling, recovery-focused programming, and community activities such as education, job training, or employment, all within a structured and supportive environment. With locations in Springfield (men’s programs) and Holyoke (LGBTQIA+ program), GRIT combines the comforts of home with access to vital resources. A skilled, multidisciplinary team works closely with each resident to support recovery, personal growth, and long-term stability, while creating personalized aftercare plans for a successful return to the community.

  • Valid driver's license, safe and reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Licensure (LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, or LADC1) strongly preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently and collaboratively
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Must be able to pass and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to support a diverse population
