Position Summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Research Finance Specialist to join our growing Clinical Research team. In this highly collaborative role, you will oversee financial operations related to clinical trials, including budget development, contract negotiations, sponsor invoicing, and Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) oversight.

This position offers the unique opportunity to partner with investigators, research professionals, finance leaders, and industry sponsors while helping advance innovative treatments that can make a difference in patients' lives.

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Day Shift (40 hours per week)

What You'll Do

As a Research Finance Specialist, you will:

  • Lead clinical trial budget reviews and negotiate sponsor agreements to ensure fair and accurate reimbursement.
  • Track contract negotiations and facilitate timely study activation.
  • Manage financial activity within the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure accurate sponsor billing, collections, and payment reconciliation.
  • Monitor vendor contracts and invoices for compliance and accuracy.
  • Help ensure research billing compliance in accordance with study contracts, site policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain CTMS workflows, study builds, and reporting processes.
  • Create training resources and support onboarding of new team members.
  • Collaborate regularly with Principal Investigators, research staff, sponsors, and finance departments.
  • Support regulatory and research operations initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance, and research success.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in clinical research, healthcare finance, accounting, contracting, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) is preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Clinical research experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with budget development, contract negotiation, healthcare billing, or financial analysis is a plus.

Certifications

Must maintain required research-related certifications and training, including:

  • Human Subjects Protection Training
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Protocol-specific training as required
