Clinical Supervisor - Early Childhood/Preschool

Job Responsibilities

• Provide individual and/or group clinical supervision to assigned staff.
• Review progress notes and other documentation for clinical quality, connection to treatment goals, intervention effectiveness, student response, and next steps.
• Support staff with case conceptualization, treatment planning, and measurable, child-centered goals aligned with students’ IEPs.
• Help staff address limited progress, challenging behaviors, engagement concerns, family or teacher concerns, and barriers to service delivery.
• Guide the selection and evaluation of developmentally appropriate interventions related to emotional regulation, coping, communication, attachment, peer relationships, transitions, and behavior.
• Support staff in using behavioral observations, data, and Functional Behavior Assessment principles to inform interventions.
• Assist staff in preparing clinical information for CPSE meetings, annual reviews, treatment plans, and progress reports.
• Provide consultation regarding child safety, mandated reporting, ethics, boundaries, and other complex clinical concerns.
• Promote reflective practice, clinical growth, accountability, and collaborative decision-making.
• Identify staff development needs and contribute to training and onboarding.

• Maintain a small caseload of preschool students with IEPs.
• Provide individual, group, and classroom-based counseling focused on social-emotional and behavioral development.
• Conduct behavioral observations to guide individualized interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers to support students’ classroom participation, emotional regulation, behavior, and relationships.
• Engage parents and caregivers through consultation, education, resources, and practical strategies.
• Monitor and document progress toward IEP counseling goals using observations, behavioral data, and caregiver and teacher feedback.
• Participate in CPSE meetings and annual reviews and communicate student progress, continued needs, and service recommendations.
• Complete required progress notes, treatment plans, service verification, billing documentation, and other program records.

• Participate in leadership meetings and contribute a clinical perspective to program planning and quality improvement.
• Work closely with the Director of School-Based Services and collaborate with the program’s administrative supervisor.
• Maintain awareness of staff caseloads, clinical complexity, treatment progress, and service needs.
• Communicate clinical trends, barriers, risks, and resource needs to program leadership.
• Participate in program meetings, professional development, agency committees, and occasional events outside traditional work hours.
• Follow Catholic Charities’ mission, policies, ethical standards, legal mandates, and compliance requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, school counseling, marriage and family therapy, creative arts therapy, or a related clinical field.
• Current New York State professional license or credential appropriate to the position and sufficient to provide clinical supervision.
• Experience providing clinical services to young children and families.
• Knowledge of early-childhood development, social-emotional and behavioral needs, and developmentally appropriate interventions.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and balance supervision, direct service, travel, and leadership responsibilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Reliable transportation and a valid New York State driver’s license.

• LCSW or another independently licensed clinical credential.
• Clinical supervision or consultation experience.
• Experience with preschool-aged children, school-based services, Early Intervention, CPSE, or preschool special education.
• Knowledge of IEP development, behavioral data collection, and progress monitoring.
• Training or experience in early-childhood mental health, play-based or parent-child interventions, Applied Behavior Analysis, trauma-informed care, or family-systems approaches.

• This is a full-time, 35-hour-per-week position.
• The schedule will vary based on preschool hours, supervision needs, meetings, and program priorities.
• Travel among participating school districts and service locations is required.
• This position offers a flexible/hybrid work structure. Direct services and observations occur in approved service settings; some supervision, meetings, and documentation may be completed remotely or at an agency office.
• The balance between supervision and direct service may change based on staffing levels, geographic coverage, and program needs.
