Position Summary
The Clinical Director leads and oversees clinical services for ANASAZI Foundation’s Outdoor Behavioral Health Care Program, ensuring services are safe, ethical, clinically appropriate, and consistent with applicable professional, regulatory, licensing, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
This primarily office-based position provides clinical leadership, supervision, treatment oversight, direct client services, quality assurance, and regular field involvement to support continuity and quality of care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee clinical services, treatment planning, clinical documentation, risk management, and continuity of care.
- Maintain an appropriate clinical caseload and provide assessment, psychotherapy, crisis support, and other services within professional scope of practice.
- Conduct or oversee required clinical assessments and participate in regular field visits to support client care and treatment.
- Oversee development, implementation, review, and documentation of individualized treatment plans, clinical interventions, discharge planning, and aftercare recommendations.
- Ensure appropriate family involvement in client treatment and coordinate with family coaching, education, and support services while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries.
- Supervise, orient, train, and evaluate assigned clinical personnel and ensure services are provided within appropriate professional scope, authorization, and demonstrated competency.
- Coordinate and oversee contracted clinical providers as assigned.
- Provide clinical consultation and collaborate with Nursing, Field Operations, Admissions, Alumni Services, leadership, families, and outside providers as appropriate.
- Monitor clinical records, significant incidents, client-safety concerns, and clinical quality indicators.
- Participate in quality improvement, risk management, internal audits, accreditation activities, and development of clinical policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, client rights, appropriate boundaries, and mandatory-reporting practices.
- Promptly communicate significant clinical, behavioral, safety, or regulatory concerns to appropriate leadership and personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree or higher in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or another behavioral health discipline qualifying the individual for the required professional licensure.
Experience
- Professional behavioral health and clinical experience required.
- Clinical supervision or behavioral health leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents, families, behavioral health treatment, residential programs, or Outdoor Behavioral Health Care Programs preferred.
Licensure / Certifications
- Current, unrestricted Arizona professional license in good standing as an independently licensed Behavioral Health Professional authorized to provide and supervise assigned clinical services.
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card as required by applicable law and ANASAZI policy.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving eligibility when assigned program or field travel.
- Other certifications or credentials required for assigned clinical responsibilities.
ANASAZI will verify required education, experience, professional licensure, credentials, qualifications, and competencies in accordance with applicable requirements.

Competency will be assessed and documented according to ANASAZI policy and applicable regulatory, licensing, professional, and accreditation requirements.
Physical & Environmental Essential Functions
This position requires office-based clinical and administrative work as well as regular travel to program and remote outdoor field locations. Field participation may require walking or hiking over uneven terrain, exposure to varying weather and elevation, and responding appropriately to client or program emergencies.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, consistent with applicable law.
Working Conditions & Schedule
Work is primarily office-based with regular participation in ANASAZI’s outdoor field environment. Evening, weekend, emergency, or on-call availability may be required based on client and program needs.
The position involves interaction with clients and families experiencing behavioral health concerns or crises and may involve travel to remote outdoor environments.
Compliance & Professional Expectations
The Clinical Director must maintain required professional licensure and practice within authorized scope and demonstrated competency.
The position must comply with applicable federal and Arizona laws and regulations, AZDHS requirements, applicable Joint Commission standards, professional licensing and ethical requirements, HIPAA and confidentiality requirements, client rights, mandatory-reporting requirements, and ANASAZI policies.
Clinical services must be provided only by personnel who are appropriately qualified, licensed or otherwise authorized, trained, competent, and supervised as required.
