Description of Duties:

Objectives of this Role: 

The role of a Client Engagement Specialist in a behavioral health outpatient clinic is pivotal in fostering positive relationships with clients, ensuring they receive comprehensive care, and enhancing overall patient satisfaction. This position requires a compassionate, organized, and proactive individual who can effectively communicate and coordinate between clients and clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities: 

Under broad supervision, work and communicate with the general public, internal customers, and/or external customers to provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations. Resolves complicated issues involving customer service and/or research governing policies, procedures, or laws to respond to clients or visitors. Serve as the first point of contact for new and existing clients, providing a welcoming and supportive environment. Assist clients in understanding their treatment plans, appointment schedules, and available services. Coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and referrals to ensure seamless continuity of care. Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations. Engage with clients regularly to assess their satisfaction, address concerns, and gather feedback for service improvement. Collaborate with clinical staff to identify clients who may need additional support or intervention. Develop and implement outreach strategies to increase client engagement and retention. Provide educational resources to clients about behavioral health issues, treatment options, and community resources. Monitor and report on client engagement metrics to management for quality assurance and program development.


Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience communicating information in a customer service setting; or two (2) years of experience required to at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 2 (GST121).

Preferred Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate approach to client interactions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of behavioral health services, outpatient treatment processes, and relevant regulations. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or a related field. Prior experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting is preferred.
