We are seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to join our Trans Health Access Team (THAT)—a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing affirming, integrated primary and behavioral healthcare for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse patients across the lifespan.

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who is passionate about health equity and committed to supporting the unique behavioral health needs of the transgender community. As a valued member of the Trans Health Access Team, you will collaborate closely with primary care providers, nurses, medical assistants, and community partners to deliver patient-centered care using an informed consent model within an integrated healthcare setting.

What You’ll Do

As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive behavioral health assessments, diagnosis, and individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Conduct behavioral health evaluations, including assessments supporting gender-affirming medical and surgical care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient's goals and strengths.
  • Assess and respond to behavioral health crises, including suicide risk and safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate whole-person care.
  • Connect patients with community resources and support services that promote wellness and recovery.
  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, quality improvement initiatives, and other program activities.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Rhode Island Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or eligible and scheduled to sit for the LCSW examination.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience working with transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of gender-affirming care, behavioral health best practices, and community resources.
  • Experience providing behavioral health services to patients across the lifespan, including children.
  • Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using electronic health records is preferred.
  • Reliable transportation with proof of Rhode Island minimum automobile insurance.

Schedule & Locations

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Approximately 33 hours of direct clinical care and 7 hours of administrative time, meetings, and supervision
  • Some evening hours required
  • Participation in an on-call rotation a few times each year

  • Organization skills, neatness; knowledge of safety and infection control standards of practice.
  • Moderate physical activity: walking, standing, sitting, and stooping.
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, respiratory disease, and other infectious diseases, and other biohazardous material requiring universal standard precautions for medical practitioners.
  • Clinical environment in ambulatory-based settings
  • Hybrid work requires a private confidential space and internet access.
  • Travel to off-site meetings and other program sites as needed.
