Reports To: Executive Director
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call support as needed

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Supervisor to provide leadership, oversight, and support for our Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) and Recovery Support team.

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Supervisor provides direct supervision, leadership, and daily operational oversight of Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), Recovery Support Specialists (RSS), and other designated recovery support staff. This position is responsible for maintaining a structured therapeutic environment, ensuring program compliance, supporting staff development, and promoting exceptional patient care.



The Behavioral Health Supervisor serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and works collaboratively with nursing, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and recovery-focused program operations.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and leadership to Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), Recovery Support Specialists (RSS), and designated support staff.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide timely coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Ensure all required training, certifications, competencies, and annual education requirements are completed on time.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and professional development.

Program Operations

  • Partner with nursing, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure consistent implementation of daily programming.
  • Maintain program structure, routines, and behavioral expectations throughout the facility.
  • Monitor unit operations and resolve operational concerns in real time.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding patient concerns, behavioral issues, and operational challenges.
  • Support continuous readiness for Joint Commission surveys, state licensing reviews, and regulatory inspections.

Patient Care & Recovery Support

  • Assist with patient orientation and integration into the treatment program.
  • Support and facilitate educational, psychoeducational, and recovery-focused groups as assigned.
  • Oversee completion of patient observations, room searches, belongings searches, urine drug screens, and safety procedures in accordance with policy.
  • Support recreational, wellness, life skills, and recovery-oriented programming.
  • Assist with transportation of patients to approved appointments and recovery activities when needed.
  • Utilize trauma-informed care principles, motivational interviewing, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, patient weights, and other basic patient monitoring activities as permitted by policy.
  • Communicate patient observations and concerns promptly to nursing and clinical leadership.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Review shift reports, incident reports, and documentation completed by direct reports for quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Joint Commission standards, Oklahoma regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain all required certifications and training.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, healthcare, or residential treatment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead staff in a fast-paced behavioral healthcare environment.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in residential substance use disorder treatment.
  • Experience supervising Behavioral Health Technicians or Recovery Support staff.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders and 12-Step recovery programming.
  • Certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (CPRSS), Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS), or equivalent credential preferred.



Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Residential behavioral health treatment environment.
  • Frequent interaction with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to potentially volatile situations and infectious diseases inherent to residential treatment settings.
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities based on operational needs.
