What are we looking for in a Behavioral Health Specialist?
The Behavioral Health Specialist is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides mental health treatment to clients in our evaluation & treatment facilities in Yakima and Selah. These sixteen-bed units provide evaluation, stabilization, and brief treatment for individuals who require inpatient treatment due to an emotional crisis or change in function due to a mental illness. An integrated, multidisciplinary team of professionals provides individualized treatment and coordinates a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes community resources and family support. Working within a trauma-informed environment, Behavioral Health Specialists assess clients’ needs and facilitate educational groups to assist clients with developing skills for illness management to help stabilize the client and prepare them for outpatient treatment. In addition, Behavioral Health Specialists assist with case management, communicate with clients’ support systems, and collaborate to develop a comprehensive discharge plan. Excellent communication skills, the ability to build rapport quickly with people of all backgrounds, and a collaborative attitude are essential in this role. We currently have one position available at our Bridges location in Selah.
Work Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 7AM - 6PM
Behavioral Health Specialist duties may include:
facilitating group counseling and skill building sessions
completing clinical assessments for new program clients
collaborating with each client and the clinical team to develop individualized treatment and discharge plans
monitoring client symptoms, medication response, and activities of daily living
providing case management and care coordination to assist each client with achieving treatment plan goals and obtaining necessary services
assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
completing all required clinical documentation in a timely and client-centered manner
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, social services, or related field
Five years of experience providing behavioral health treatment
Must be eligible for Certified Agency Affiliated Counselor credential in Washington State at time of hire
Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
