St. Peter's Health Regional Medical CenterEssential Position Functions:
• Assess mental status, risk, and clinical needs of persons in distress
• Provide emergency psychotherapy
• Provide supportive counseling
• Follow up on the status of persons in distress
• Search out and refer to community resources
• Evaluate clinical need for hospitalization
• Evaluate appropriateness for involuntary treatment according to legal criteria
• Evaluate need for admission to state hospital
• Provide written reports to county attorney and court
• Testify in court in civil commitment cases
• Provide consultation to families, friends and other providers of care to persons in acute distress
• Complete clinical records and reports according to established policy and procedure
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
• 1-3 years related clinical experience
Skills in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, writing, and oral communication; excellent medication understanding and conflict-resolution skills.
EDUCATION:
• Master’s degree in social work or counseling required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Must maintain active Montana license as SWLC or LCPC-C. Licensure candidates must complete licensure hours and sit for licensure exam within three years of hire. BLS required.
