Reporting Relationship: Behavioral Health Clinical Manager

Do Work That Matters

At The Project, you will do work that matters for people who are too often overlooked. We are celebrating 40 years of providing affirming healthcare and supportive services to people living with HIV, those most at risk, and the broader LGBTQ+ community, and we welcome everyone who walks through our doors. We are looking for people who believe health care should meet people where they are. Learn more at www.tpqc.org.

About the Role

As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you'll provide therapy that meets people where they are. You'll carry a caseload of individual clients, facilitate groups, and build treatment plans with your clients rather than for them. You'll work alongside our medical providers, navigators, and harm reduction staff, so the people you serve get care that holds together.

We're open to clinicians at different stages of licensure. Whether you're provisionally licensed and working toward full licensure, or already fully licensed, we want to hear from you.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • See clients. Provide individual therapy using the modalities you know well, including CBT, DBT, and mindfulness based approaches. Facilitate groups on coping skills, stress management, and relationships, and create a space where people feel safe showing up.
  • Assess and plan. Conduct thorough mental health assessments and build personalized, evidence based treatment plans. Revisit and adjust them as your clients grow.
  • Connect the dots. Coordinate care with medical providers, social services, and community partners. Refer out when someone needs more than therapy, whether that's a psychiatric evaluation or substance use treatment.
  • Document well. Keep accurate, timely notes that keep care coordinated and meet our policies and legal requirements.
  • Be part of the team. Work closely with other behavioral health clinicians, medical providers, and support staff to make sure clients are getting coordinated, whole-person care. Join in on team meetings, case consultations, and shared problem-solving.
  • Grow the practice. Support masters level interns, share your expertise with the team, and stay sharp through ongoing training and supervision. We hold to the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics.

Requirements

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Normal hours of work and days for the Project are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May require flex hours to meet client need as necessary. Working flexibly (some days of the week from home) is available.

Compensation

Compensation starts at $53,587 per year. The final salary offered is determined by years of professional and/or lived experience beyond the minimum requirement, with an additional 2.5% for those proficient in a second language relevant to the role.

Our compensation structure is experience-centric and not contingent on education. As part of our commitment to pay equity, salaries are non-negotiable and include an annual cost of living increase. We have historically prioritized broad, equitable adjustments over performance-based increases, with the understanding that our approach may evolve.

Required Education and Experience

We're open to clinicians at different stages of licensure. You qualify if you have a master's degree and hold, or are actively working toward, clinical licensure in Illinois or Iowa.

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or clinical psychology.
  • Licensure in Illinois or Iowa, at either stage:
    • Fully licensed: LCSW, LCPC, or licensed clinical psychologist; or
    • Provisionally or associate licensed, working toward full clinical licensure: in Illinois, an LSW or LPC; in Iowa, an LMSW or associate level LMHC.
  • Licensed in one state but not the other? We'll help you get there.
  • Experience providing behavioral health services under supervision, including practicum or internship. Two or more years in a community based organization or private practice is a plus, not a requirement.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Professional or lived experience with:
  • LGBTQ+ communities
  • individuals experiencing chronic disease or traumatic diagnosis
  • people living with HIV
  • historically oppressed/marginalized groups
  • substance, alcohol and drug abuse

The Project of the Quad Cities values diverse skills and experiences. Preferred qualifications are not required, and candidates who meet the required qualifications are encouraged to apply.
