We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Behavior Support Manager to provide leadership for Wellspring Community's participant support and behavior support systems. This role partners with the Program Director, Program Managers, Teachers, Program Supports, and Resource Coordinators to create a safe, engaging, and person-centered environment where participants can thrive.


This position supervises the Program Support team while helping evolve the role from primarily classroom assistance to proactive participant support. Through coaching, observations, training, and systems development, the Behavior Support Manager helps staff recognize precursor behaviors, implement accommodations, build meaningful relationships, and support participant success throughout the day.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys coaching others, solving problems, building systems, and helping both participants and staff succeed.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate the Program Team members
  • Partner closely with the Program Director and Program Managers to ensure consistent participant support across the Day Program
  • Lead the continued development of the Program Support role into a proactive participant support model
  • Observe classrooms and community classes, providing coaching and feedback to staff
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven culture
  • Observe participants and identify proactive strategies to promote success
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), conduct Functional Behavior Analysis (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Create and maintain visual schedules, behavior charts, social stories, communication supports, and other individualized accommodations
  • Assist with participant transitions, reintegration plans, and individualized support strategies
  • Participate in prospective participant intakes, making recommendations regarding behavioral supports, supervision, and program fit
  • Serve as Wellspring's Certified CPI Instructor and coordinate staff certification and annual recertification
  • Train staff in proactive behavior supports, recognizing precursor behaviors, sensory regulation, communication strategies, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Internal Safety Review meetings and ensure follow-up actions are completed
  • Analyze behavior trends and recommend program improvements
  • Partner with families, guardians, Resource Coordinators, Teachers, Program Supports, Program Managers, and community providers to provide consistent participant supports
  • Support Wellspring's person-centered philosophy by helping staff understand each participant's strengths, goals, and support needs
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to strengthen program quality and participant outcomes
  • Maintain documentation related to observations, behavior plans, visual supports, and Internal Safety Reviews
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, Medicaid requirements, and Colorado regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director or leadership

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Human Services, Behavior Analysis, or a related field required
  • Three or more years of experience supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience developing and implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans
  • Certified CPI Instructor or willingness to obtain certification
  • Excellent coaching, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of person-centered practices and services for adults with IDD
  • Must successfully pass required background checks and drug screening and obtain DOT certification.

 

Schedule & Flexibility

  • This is a full-time, primarily in-person position aligned with program hours. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
  • After successful completion of the introductory period, Behavior Support Managers receive one weekly work from home day.

 

Position Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week

Reports To: Program Director
