Richmond Community Services is looking for a Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) who is passionate about helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live meaningful, successful, and more independent lives.

This is not a desk-and-paperwork-only job. You’ll be out in the programs, working with teams, analyzing behavior, developing strategies, coaching staff, and seeing your work make a difference in real time.

What You’ll Do

As a BIS, you will:

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
• Conduct and support Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and use data to understand behavioral patterns.
• Observe programs and provide hands-on behavioral support and recommendations.
• Partner with Direct Support Professionals, nurses, managers, clinicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Coach and train staff so behavioral strategies are understood and used consistently.
• Analyze behavioral data and use it to measure progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Help teams respond effectively to behavioral challenges while promoting dignity, choice, independence, and quality of life.
• Participate in person-centered planning and interdisciplinary meetings.
• Support quality improvement and regulatory requirements related to behavioral services.
• Promote Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) and evidence-based practices throughout RCS programs.

What You Bring

Required:

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
• 3 years of related clinical experience.
• Strong understanding of behavioral principles, assessment, intervention, and data analysis.
• Excellent communication, coaching, organization, and relationship-building skills.

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Experience developing and monitoring FBAs and BSPs.
• Experience training or coaching DSP/frontline staff.
