Assistant Program Director
Sierra Vista Behavioral Health CenterSierra Vista Behavioral Health Center is licensed as a Skilled Nursing Facility and has a state-approved Special Treatment Program (STP) to serve adults with chronic and persistent mental illness, including schizophrenia and psychotic, mood and personality disorders.
This position assists the Program Director in the planning, development, coordination, and supervision of STP services and other therapeutic programs which meet the needs and interests of each resident in the facility, observing all regulatory requirements under state and federal law and Sierra Vista policies and procedures.
Essential Position Duties
Assists in the organization and supervision of the provision of activity groups and special rehabilitative services of the Special Treatment Program, including assessment, certification, treatment planning, and direct treatment services.
Assists with recruitment, orientation/training, evaluation, and counseling of staff, as well as other personnel tasks as needed.
Maintains staff schedules consistent with program needs, regulatory requirements, and budgetary guidelines, and assists with timekeeping and scheduling functions in UKG.
Monitors the timeliness and quality of written documentation in the medical record. Ensures documentation is accurate, informative and descriptive of the resident’s condition, the care provided and resident’s response to the care.
Monitors the order and safety of Special Treatment Program group rooms and offices.
Assists in the coordination of community contacts for Special Treatment Program to be brought into the facility (12 Step groups, etc.).
Maintains records of interdisciplinary professional staff hours consistent with regulatory requirements.
Reviews Special Treatment Program hours weekly and monthly, and recommends individualized, activity treatment action for residents as necessary.
Assists, as needed, in reviewing the appropriateness of resident referrals, including conducting on-site evaluations.
Assists the STP Director and Director of Staff Development in ensuring that orientation, annual education, in-service training, and continuing education for clinical staff members will meet regularly compliance as well as lead to program and staff growth.
Educates clinical staff on therapeutic and safe behavioral interventions using the principles of ProACT and respecting our culture of person-centered, compassionate care and use of least-restrictive interventions.
Serves as acting Program Director as needed, including periodically assisting with after-hours call.
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field, with minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a mental health setting; or
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field, with minimum of one (1) year experience in a mental health setting.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to work with staff, residents, and families.
- Ability to contribute to treatment planning and documentation processes.
Nice to Have:
- CADC-I or higher certification.
- Supervisory experience or experience working in a team lead role.
- Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish.
- Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or other electronic medical record systems.
- Experience with UKG or other electronic timekeeping/scheduling systems.
