Assistant Professor of Biology

Depending on the candidate’s strengths and areas of interest, teaching responsibilities may include introductory biology, introductory chemistry, biochemistry, and upper-level biology. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with education and experience. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidates must hold an advanced degree in a biological science. An earned doctorate is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be able to teach a broad range of courses in an undergraduate biological science curriculum using a variety of modalities. Highly desirable candidates will have backgrounds in one or more of the following areas: chemistry (100- and 200-level), anatomy, physiology, microbiology, immunology, cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, histology, and ecology. Teaching responsibilities are negotiated among the program faculty to capitalize on an individual's strengths. Candidates should be able to integrate information across biological disciplines and support undergraduate research. 

Responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching all levels of undergraduate biological science curriculum with opportunities in related disciplines commensurate with the candidate's abilities. Faculty are expected to review, assess, administer, and periodically revise the program's majors by assisting with coordination of those programs, maintaining professional scholarship, advising students, participating in the life of the university and community, and collaborating with existing faculty members.

Successful candidates should have a considerable commitment to academic excellence and believe in the Christian faith and a Christian liberal arts education.
