The Opportunity

Heights and Hills, an affiliate of Greenwich House, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Center Director to join the Older Adult Network’s Park Slope Center for Successful Aging (PSCSA). The Assistant Center Director will support the delivery of programs, services, and resources that empower older adults to remain active, connected, and independent while promoting dignity and quality of life. In this role, you will provide social work support, resource navigation, advocacy, and assistance to older adults while helping oversee the daily operations and programming of the senior center. 

As the Assistant Center Director, you will work closely with the Center Director, agency staff, volunteers, social work interns, and community partners to support the overall success of the older adult center. This role combines social work practice, program leadership, outreach, client support, community engagement, and supervision of social work students and volunteers to address the diverse needs of older adults.

The Assistant Center Director will help coordinate center activities, support program development, provide information, assistance, referrals, and supportive services, assist with crisis intervention, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment where older adults can access resources, build meaningful connections, and maintain their independence.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily operations of the older adult center, including, outreach, program promotion, and meal service when needed. 
  • Conduct client intake, assessments, and reassessments to identify individual needs and develop service plans. 
  • Assist clients with applications and renewals for public benefits, including SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, and Access-A-Ride. 
  • Connect clients with community resources, including medical, legal, housing, home care, and mental health services. 
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client documentation in agency databases in accordance with organizational and NYC Aging guidelines. 
  • Monitor client progress and provide crisis intervention and support as needed. 
  • Coordinate with community partners, volunteers, interns, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance services and member engagement. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, professional development, and community outreach activities. 
  • Assist the Center Director with special projects and assume leadership responsibilities when needed. 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters Degree Preferred; MSW, LMSW/LCSW (or working toward licensure), or a related degree in Social Work, Counseling, Gerontology, Recreation Therapy, or Human Services preferred. 
  • SIFI Certified or eligible
  • One or more years of experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, or other at-risk populations (internship experience may be considered). 
  • Knowledge of public benefits and entitlement programs, including SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, and Access-A-Ride. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, assessment, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention skills. 
  • Ability to engage older adults and families with professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email communication, Canva, Adobe, WordPress, Constant Contact, Vive, Mailchimp nd ADP.
  • Experience planning programs, facilitating groups, conducting community outreach, and coordinating with community resources. 
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. 
  • Understanding of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging and the impact of chronic illness and disability on older adults. 
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred; Chinese, Russian, or French language proficiency is a plus.

Schedule: 35 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM 

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt 

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range 

The expected annual salary for this position is $65,000-$67,000 (hourly equivalent of $35.71 - $36.81). This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
