Instructional Student Assistant Pool 26-27 AY

POSITION

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF graduate students to provide grading support for introductory Asian American Studies or Ethnic Studies classes. This is a pool of ISAs for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled graduate student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, Outlook, and Zoom, and willingness to learn course specific software and platforms, such as Canvas, to better assist students.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work and to be available for meetings with supervising faculty member.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and undergraduate students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to applicants with formal study and/or work experience in an ethnic studies-related field or discipline, such as African American studies, Chicana/o studies, women and gender studies, American studies, sociology, history, psychology, English, political science, liberal studies, philosophy, anthropology, social work, public health, and counseling.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior ISA or GA work experience.
  • Students with Federal Work Study award

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
