Job Summary
The Lead Overnight Case Manager provides overnight leadership and case management support within a shelter serving youth and young adults. This position combines direct case management responsibilities with leadership and oversight of overnight shelter operations.
The Lead Overnight Case Manager will maintain an assigned caseload, provide ongoing support to youth and young adults, and ensure that case management services are delivered consistently and effectively. The Lead will also provide guidance and support to Case Managers and help ensure the shelter remains safe, organized, and responsive to the needs of participants throughout the overnight shift.
This position is at the Social Impact Center Y, the social services branch of YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS). The mission of the Social Impact Center Y is to accelerate young people’s ability to build safe, successful, and happy lives. Every year, we serve 5,000 children, youth, young adults, and families across King County with programs that aim to strengthen young people’s ability to develop to their fullest potential through four strategies: reducing risk factors; navigating systems towards successful life transition; ensuring stability, safety and wellness in times of crisis; and building competencies and social capital. The Social Impact Center Y’s programs include housing, behavioral health, foster care licensing, violence prevention, education, and employment. Many of the young people we serve have had involvement in the foster care, criminal justice system, and/or homelessness systems.

Lead Overnight Case Manager – Arcadia Services
*Please note that this is a Lead position, so scheduled hours may vary as needed. Additional time may be required for mandatory meetings, team support, training, and other operational needs. Leads should remain flexible with their schedule to ensure appropriate coverage and support for the team.
Responsibilities
Maintain an assigned caseload and provide ongoing case management services to youth and young adults.
Complete regular case management documentation, assessments, service plans, referrals, and follow-up.
Conduct weekly peer check-ins with Case Managers to provide support, discuss caseloads, identify barriers, and coordinate services.
Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Case Managers during overnight operations.
Oversee overnight shelter operations and ensure the environment remains safe, welcoming, and supportive.
Monitor participant needs and respond appropriately to behavioral, safety, and crisis situations.
Ensure shelter policies, procedures, and program expectations are consistently followed.
Support conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed.
Assist youth and young adults with accessing community resources, services, and referrals.
Communicate important participant, safety, and operational concerns to appropriate leadership.
Complete required shift notes, incident reports, case notes, and other documentation accurately and timely.
Conduct appropriate shift handoffs and communicate relevant information to incoming staff.
Support staff with problem-solving, decision-making, and questions related to case management and shelter operations.
Help ensure staff maintain appropriate professional boundaries and provide trauma-informed, youth-centered services.
Assist with staff coverage and operational needs as directed.
Participate in mandatory meetings, trainings, supervision, and other program requirements.
Respond to emergencies and follow established emergency and safety procedures.
Maintain confidentiality and protect participant information in accordance with agency policies and applicable requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the shelter and services provided to youth and young adults.
Code of Conduct for Applicants
All employees and volunteers are responsible for adhering to abuse prevention policies, maintaining appropriate boundaries, completing required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and complying with mandated reporting requirements.
Responsible for ensuring staff are properly screened, trained, supervised and held accountable to the organization’s abuse risk management standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, administration or related field or equivalent experience, Masters preferred. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
- Experience in case management, social services, behavioral heatlh, homelessness services, youth services, or a related field.
- Experience working with youth and/or young adults preferred.
- Previous lead, supervisory, or mentoring experience preferred.
- Ability to work independelty and make appropriate decisions during overnight hours.
- Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including skills in coaching and giving/receiving feedback.
- Ability to respond calmly and professionally to crisis situations.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Commitment to providing respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services.
- Ability to work a consistent overnight schedule and remain flexible when program needs require additional support.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Case Managers, leadership, and other service providers.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Current state approved First Aid and CPR certification.*
- Current approved HIV blood borne pathogens training.*
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
