The Opportunity

The Alcohol and Drug Counselor is a core member of Coastal Recovery's interdisciplinary treatment team, providing individual and group counseling services to adults in SUD treatment using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches. This full-time, on-site role in Myrtle Beach, SC plays a critical part in treatment planning, documentation, client engagement, and collaboration with medical and program leadership to ensure effective and compliant care.

What You'll Do

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services within PHP and IOP levels of care
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments, ASAM-aligned treatment plans, and ongoing documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Facilitate evidence-based group programming focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery support
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including medical providers, case managers, and peer support staff to coordinate client care
  • Participate in supervision, case consultation, and reflective practice to support quality services and professional growth
  • Maintain ethical boundaries, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Support a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented treatment environment

Requirements

Required:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field meeting South Carolina licensure requirements
  • Active, full South Carolina licensure as an LPC, LMFT, LISW-CP, or LAC (Licensed Addiction Counselor), in good standing (associate-level licensure not eligible)
  • Active Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential or documented eligibility to obtain
  • Demonstrated competencies in group facilitation, documentation, and treatment planning
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies
  • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and South Carolina behavioral health regulations
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team

Preferred:

  • Experience providing counseling in SUD or co-occurring treatment settings
  • Working knowledge of utilization review expectations and documentation standards
