Every day, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault turn to The Center for Women and Families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As an Advocate, you'll provide compassionate support, crisis intervention, safety planning, and connection to resources that help individuals and families begin rebuilding their lives.

What You'll Do

Emergency Shelter


Support shelter residents
Provide advocacy and case management
Facilitate groups
Assist with transportation and transition planning


All Advocates receive training and are expected to perform the following core responsibilities:


Crisis Intervention: Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to survivors experiencing interpersonal violence.
Safety Planning: Help clients identify immediate safety needs and develop individualized plans.
Advocacy: Support clients while navigating medical, legal, housing, financial, and community resources.
Case Management: Coordinate services and connect survivors with internal and external resources.
Documentation: Maintain timely, accurate documentation while meeting agency and grant requirements.
Collaboration: Work alongside coworkers, healthcare providers, law enforcement, schools, courts, and community partners to ensure clients receive coordinated support.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree preferred, OR
Three (3) years of related human services experience


Also required


Valid driver's license if required to operate a company vehicle for the position
Acceptable driving record
Ability to pass a background check
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts depending on assignment
Basic computer proficiency
Strong written documentation skills
Capacity to learn retain new skills and practices and implement new knowledge
