Within a therapeutic residential care setting, MYSI Corp provides case management services for stabilization and family reunification, life skills development, recreational activities, and weekly support for youth aged 14 to 17 and a half in the Group Home and 17 and a half to 21 for our Transitional Living and Independent Living Programs.
Position Overview:
As the Advocacy Coordinator II, you will provide case management, and serve as a positive role model, while assisting clients in making healthy life choices that promote favorable well-being outcomes. The Advocacy Coordinator II is a leader within the residential program and is expected to be involved in residential operations as a direct care staff. You will help deliver programming and contribute to the development of life, social, vocational, and academic skills for clients living in the residence.
The Advocacy Coordinator II assists the program manager with leading case management of clients, assisting with the management of all client services as needed. You will formulate assessments of the emotional, social, and mental health needs of the clients, and provide face-to-face advocacy services. These assessments will allow the clinical team to assess and support the emotional, social, and mental health needs of the clients, and create the best treatment plan. This role requires flexibility and responsiveness, as case management duties are not limited to a traditional 9-5 schedule and may involve evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities. This position will be located at our Bridges Group Home on the Northside of Chicago (Rogers Park).
Essential Functions:

Provide case manager services for each client ages 14 to 17 and a half as they transition through the residential program, using mentorship, counseling, and other supportive methods. Make recommendations in clinical and supervisory meetings regarding client issues, participating in team meetings and client treatment planning.
Documents the progress or lack of progress of clients in the program, assisting with the tracking of client activities, education progress, employment interests, and financial literacy. May also assist clients with employment opportunities.
Shares in the responsibility of ensuring all documentation for client progress is in the client case file, in accordance with DCFS-Administrative Five protocol, Medicaid, and subsequent billing.
Acts as one of the primary advocates and a liaison for clients between the court, medical services, education plans, and all other identified collateral agencies.
Prepares and provides pertinent documentation, records, reports, and files materials as required by the agency and/or DCFS.
Enters or ensures that incidents and events are documented following MYSI incident reporting policies procedures.
Upload clinical staffing reports, documents for case notes, contacts, and progress updates to DCFS or internal databases.
Attend court hearings, prepare and file court documents within required timeframes including, but not limited to Administrative Case Review (ACR)/ Quarterly Discharge Planning/Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTM).
Complete and attend MYSI required trainings both in-person and online.
Make appropriate service referrals to various substance abuse, alcohol, anger management, academic, parenting, psychological and counseling programs.
Provides basic residential and administrative assistance and guidance to residential staff, supporting with intervention and management of milieu operations.
Committed to providing a positive environment in the residence and understands how their role directly impacts the environment and behavior of clients and staff.
May assist with dispensing, monitoring, and tracking client medications.
This position is expected to function effectively independently and collaboratively, following the guidelines and protocols given, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
Manage many aspects of clients’ lives with an emphasis placed on protecting their interests and well-being.
Remains up to date on all training assigned while recommending future training.
Participates in supervision and team meetings as required by Leadership.

Qualifications: What you will bring to MYSI Corporation
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services or related field of study with at least 1-year professional experience in a child and family welfare agency.
At least (2) years of direct case management experience. of DCFS Rule: 403 and case
Strong communication skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, and/or crisis management skills.
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and/or other communities facing disparities.
Ability to work with DCFS, courts, and other social service systems.
Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Handle sensitive and confidential materials.
Will be required to travel to perform duties including driving the agency van to assist with client transportation.
Position hours may include regular business hours, evenings, and some weekends.
DCFS Background Check Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass a background check as required by 89 Ill. Adm. Code 385 (Background Checks), fingerprinting and meet transportation requirements.
Physical & Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and proof of valid auto insurance.
Must be able to administer CPR, First Aid and CPI. (Training provided)
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age per DCFS regulations.
Must comply with Childcare Act CH 23 part 2215.1 Section 5.1a 6.
Access to a vehicle for youth transportation and outreach counseling during scheduled work and on-call shifts.
Maintain and assist with the upkeep of a clean and sanitary work environment.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and move up and downstairs.
