Be a mentor. Be a positive influence. Be part of someone's story.

Are you someone who enjoys building connections, encouraging others, and making a positive impact? At Lighthouse, our Youth Workers do more than supervise youth – they help young people discover their strengths, build confidence, develop life skills, and work toward a brighter future.

As a Youth Worker, you'll create a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where youth feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to reach their goals. Whether you're leading an activity, teaching everyday life skills, helping work through a challenging moment, or simply being someone they can count on, your work makes a difference!

What You'll Be Doing

Build Meaningful Connections: Engage with youth, learn about their interests, celebrate their strengths, and encourage them to reach their personal goals.

Be a Positive Role Model: Mentor, coach, encourage, and support youth as they develop confidence, independence, and social skills.

Make Every Day Count: Plan and participate in fun, structured activities, group events, and community outings.

Teach Life Skills: Help youth develop everyday skills such as personal hygiene, self-care, problem-solving, and independent living.

Create a Safe Space: Provide supervision, maintain a positive environment, and help youth navigate challenging situations using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches.

Support Growth and Success: Follow individualized service plans and use therapeutic interventions to help youth make progress toward their goals.

Be Part of the Team: Communicate with coworkers, share important updates between shifts, and work together to provide consistent support.

Keep Things Running: Assist with meal preparation, transportation, daily routines, and other program activities.

Document the Difference: Complete required documentation and maintain accurate records of youth progress and daily activities.

Keep Learning: Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to continue growing your skills.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who is:

Patient, compassionate, and understanding.

A natural encourager who enjoys helping others succeed.

Comfortable building relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.

A strong communicator and team player.

Flexible, dependable, and ready to adapt when plans change.

Able to stay calm, think creatively, and problem-solve during challenging situations.

Committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment.

Experience working with youth is helpful, but having the right attitude, willingness to learn, and passion for making a difference are just as important!

What to Expect

This is an active, hands-on position in a residential setting serving young adults ages 18–24. No two days are exactly alike! You'll be on your feet, participating in activities, assisting with daily routines, and responding to the needs of the youth in your care.

Local travel and transporting youth in personal or agency vehicles may be required.

The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and occasionally lifting more than 50 pounds.

This is an essential, on-site position with no remote work options.
