Adoption Case Manager

About the role: The Case Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive case management services to children and families, with a focus on ensuring safety, achieving permanency, and promoting overall well-being. This role involves direct engagement with clients, caregivers, and community partners to coordinate services and support.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied 

    family and youth services, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, early 

    childhood education, or psychology from an accredited college/university.

  • Previous experience working with children and family services is preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Licensure by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) is preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an understanding of families’ lived experiences, including factors such as trauma, poverty, developmental stages, gender, race, ethnicity, and language

  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, caregivers, placement providers, the Department for Children and Families (DCF), colleagues, and other community partners

  • Communicate relevant and appropriate information with families and professionals in a timely manner

  • Provide in-home and community-based services including:

    • Observation of caregiver-child interactions

    • Maintenance and development of family and community connections

    • Resource coordination

    • On-call crisis intervention and safety planning

    • Life skills training

    • Transportation of clients

    • Administration of drug screenings

  • Advocate for clients based on comprehensive assessments and ongoing evaluations. Advocacy efforts may include:

    • Providing testimony in court

    • Attending school and service coordination meetings

    • Facilitating access to mental health and other support services

  • Complete thorough and timely documentation, including:

    • Case notes and logs

    • Comprehensive assessments

    • Court reports and social histories
