POSITIONS PURPOSE 
The Admissions Counselor I for Graduate Admissions is responsible for driving inquiry generation, application conversion, and enrollment growth for assigned graduate programs. This role supports the University’s strategic enrollment goals by engaging prospective students through a consultative, student-centered recruitment approach.
 
This position operates in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment and is expected to actively manage a recruitment pipeline, execute outreach strategies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of graduate enrollment efforts. The counselor will collaborate closely with academic departments, marketing, enrollment operations, and external partners to meet and exceed enrollment targets.
 
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Recruitment, Pipeline Ownership & Lead Generation
  • Own and manage a portfolio of prospective graduate students from inquiry through enrollment using CRM tools (EAB Navigate or equivalent)
  • Take an entrepreneurial approach to growing and developing an assigned student population, identifying new opportunities to expand the pipeline
  • Execute timely, personalized outreach via phone, text, email, and virtual appointments to drive application and deposit conversion
  • Maintain consistent follow-up cadence aligned with enrollment communication strategies
  • Support and contribute to lead generation efforts through networking, events, partnerships, and proactive outreach (not a passive, lead-only model)
  • Monitor individual pipeline performance and adjust strategies to meet enrollment goals
  • Participate in evening and virtual outreach efforts to engage working adult learners
Enrollment Strategy Execution
  • Support aggressive graduate enrollment goals through proactive recruitment strategies and daily activity targets
  • Partner with the Senior Manager to implement program-specific enrollment plans
  • Identify barriers to enrollment and recommend solutions to improve conversion rates
  • Contribute to yield strategies, including events, webinars, and admitted student engagement initiatives
Student Advising & One-Stop Enrollment Support
  • Serve in a one-stop admissions model, providing comprehensive support from inquiry through enrollment
  • Advise prospective students on program selection, course expectations, and academic pathways in partnership with academic departments
  • Guide students through financial conversations, including cost, financial aid basics, and payment considerations
  • Provide clear, accurate guidance on admissions requirements, program offerings, and enrollment steps
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, offering a high-touch, responsive experience
  • Assist students in navigating the application process, including document collection and completion
Events & Outreach
  • Represent Concordia Texas at graduate recruitment events, information sessions, employer visits, and community engagements (virtual and in-person)
  • Support planning and execution of graduate-focused events such as preview nights, webinars, and program-specific sessions
  • Build relationships with employers, community organizations, and partner institutions to expand the graduate pipeline
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with Marketing to inform messaging, campaigns, and lead generation strategies, including contributing to grassroots and counselor-driven lead generation efforts
  • Partner with academic program directors to align recruitment messaging with program outcomes and workforce relevance
  • Collaborate with the CRM Administrator to ensure data integrity, accurate tracking, and effective use of systems to support recruitment and conversion efforts
Data, CRM & Reporting
  • Accurately document all student interactions and maintain up-to-date records in the CRM
  • Track key performance indicators including outreach activity, application conversion, and enrollment outcomes
  • Use data insights to inform daily work and improve effectiveness
Continuous Improvement
  • Stay informed on graduate enrollment trends, adult learner behaviors, and competitive landscape
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes, communication strategies, and student experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & PRINCIPLES
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 0–2 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, or customer-facing roles
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a goal-driven or metrics-based environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to build relationships and guide students through decision-making processes
  • Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Comfort with CRM systems and data tracking (experience with EAB Navigate or similar preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Requires occasional evening and weekend work
  • Some local and regional travel required
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work at a computer for several hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. for event materials.
