  1. Position Summary

The Admissions Counselor provides advanced professional knowledge, advice, and counseling about the CUH student admission and recruitment process. This position is primarily responsible for the recruitment of online (Flex) undergraduate and graduate level students at Chaminade University. The Admissions Counselor will participate in activities that will generate prospects, applicants, and enrollees. The Admission Counsellors works in coordination with the entire Admissions and Enrollment Management team to meet and exceed enrollment goals and attain department strategic goals. This position is the face of the University to potential and new students, and will personify CUH mission and Marianist beliefs to the public, other CUH departments, and coworkers within Admissions.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement all parts of the Admissions strategic plan
  • Meet recruitment goals set by the department
  • Represent Chaminade University at events, functions, and to students and parents
  • Assist in planning of recruitment functions, including events on and off campus
  • Provide information to prospective students and parents about educational opportunities both in class and on or off campus at Chaminade University
  • Counsel students and parents about admission requirements
  • Refer students to Financial Aid as needed
  • Review applications for eligibility and obtain information to determine admissibility, adhering to set departmental evaluation procedures
  • Develop relationships with community contacts and other CUH departments
  • Travel to conferences and other institutes of learning to publicize and explain admission requirements, procedures, and the benefits of being a CUH student
  • Answer phone, email, text and other inquiries from students and parents
  • Perform data entry, data searches and retrieval
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, assist with design and development of content for marketing materials.

  1. Education and Experience

 

Minimum

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with 2 years’ customer service or sales experience

 

Preferred

2 years’ experience counseling students in academic and scholastic matters, and 1 year of experience in a university setting

  • Broad knowledge of institutional admission requirements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Slate preferred
  • Comfortable and articulate when speaking in front of groups or individuals
  • Familiarity with digital communication and social media platforms
  • Energetic, self-motivated, goal-oriented
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and work with individuals at all levels of the university including a culturally and ethnically diverse student population
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Accuracy in data gathering and input
  • Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality
  • High integrity and ethical standards


  1. Physical Requirements

Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, walk the campus with ease, and have excellent motor skills. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.


  1. Other Requirements
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and/or access to transportation for intra-island travel
  • This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work both nights and weekends and have a varying schedule when required
  • Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
  • Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner
