Position Description:
The Honors Program in the School of Arts and Science at Merrimack College seeks an adjunct instructor to teach one section of POL 1500 Comparative Politics at the Honors Level in Fall 2026. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:50pm beginning the week of August 31. Course periods can include lectures but must also feature other active learning techniques as well (such as simulations, debates, discussions, or other hands-on activities). 

The course is required for all Political Science majors, and an elective for International Studies majors and several minors, and is also taken by many other students for general education credit.

Qualifications: 

  • Masters degree required, Ph.D. preferred. College teaching experience is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, EdD, or related discipline).

  • Prior experience teaching in graduate nursing or other health professions programs.

  • Experience teaching epidemiology, biostatistics, population health, public/community health, healthcare research, or related graduate-level courses.

  • Certification and/or demonstrated expertise in public health, population health, quality improvement, healthcare analytics, or evidence-based practice.

  • Experience in asynchronous remote learning management systems to support student-centered instruction.

This position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check.


Compensation

Minimum: $5,000 per 4-credit course

Minimum: $3,750 per lab section

The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
